Last Call for Petition Signature Collection
On Monday, June 23 the Libertarian Party of Illinois will be trucking all our petitions to the State Board of Elections to get our candidates for President, VP, and Senate on the ballot.
So this weekend, June 14 & 15, is the last weekend for general signature collection. Check your local paper or the internet for an art fair, farmer's market, town festival, car show, parade, or race near you. Get out and fill your final petitions (instructions). Then, visit a notary to get them stamped and either in the mail to Chris Bennett (2616 Kent Drive, Springfield, IL 62703) or to a Petition Coordinator by Tuesday, the 17th. All mailed petitions must arrive in Springfield by Friday, June 20.
When filling out the bottom of the petitions, please do not number them. Our team will number them sequentially (all 3000) in Springfield next weekend. See the completed petition sample for additional details about filling out a petition.
We are also asking for your donation to help fund the drive. You can give through our website or by sending a check to: Libertarian Party of Illinois, P.O. Box 1605, Chicago, IL 60690-1605. Your donation pays for the contractors we have out right now collecting hundreds of signatures per day to get us close to our 50,000 signature goal.
More information about the drive can be found on the petition drive page of our website, LPIllinois.org, including the press release about our filling.
More Media Attention
The Barr for President campaign is on the air. He recently scored a full hour on the Glenn Beck show on CNN and did a good job on the Colbert Report. You can watch both of them through our website Candidates page.
We're working on our own media opportunity here in Illinois to see if Bob can attend the Illinois petition filling and/or a fundraiser later in the year. Stay tuned…
Plan to Visit our State Capital
Anyone interested can join the Vote Libertarian Illinois team in assembling and/or delivering our stack of petitions in Springfield on June 22 & 23. Also, it's likely that our petitions will be challenged and we will need people who can go for a few days to Springfield and defend them during the weeks of July 7 and 14. Carpooling from the Chicagoland area available. Contact Crystal Jurczynski by emailing VLI@LPIllinois. org or calling 630-876-1935 for more info.
Petitioning for Dan Druck
Dan is working to get on the ballot in Illinois' 14th Congressional District (primarily Kane, Kendall, and DeKalb counties). He can really use the help of both volunteer and paid petitioners ($1.25/signature plus bonus) to collect signatures in these final days. To petition, call Campaign Manager Ken Prazak at 847-426-1974 as soon as possible. To donate, visit Dan's website at TimeForDan.com or send a check to "Committee to Elect Dan Druck", 180 S. Western Ave. #201, Carpentersville, IL 60110.

Wondrous Cure for 'Deficit Attention Disorder'
Here's an excerpt from a great item by Mark Lange:
"Have you ever wondered how the federal government can bail out banks and mortgage-holders, cut your taxes, try to protect Social Security, expand your Medicare benefits, and send you a stimulus check – all at the same time? These may be symptoms of an embarrassing condition afflicting political parties, banks, and households across America: Deficit Attention Disorder (DAD).
Unchecked, normal individuals (as well as politicians and bank CEOs) afflicted by DAD start to believe in money that doesn't exist. This silent assassin of fiscal sanity overheats your credit card, sells you a make-believe mortgage, makes your pension go "poof," and drops a whopping entitlement tab on your kids.
Fortunately, there's a new way to get DAD under control – without any of the cosmetic remedies prescribed by spin doctors. By combining an ancient Zen secret with a cure-all from your grandmother, our researchers are proud to introduce: Restraint®.
Applied early and often, Restraint® enters the body politic and goes to work fast. It restores reason, calms appetites, and builds a healthy resistance to billionaire tax breaks and deficit spending – to help future generations breathe easier."
Here's to a little Restraint for all our elected officials. To read the rest, visit the Christian Science Monitor website.
