Ballot Access: 25,000 valid signatures (i.e. 50,000 raw signatures)

Note: all state-wide candidates will be placed on a single petition, so the goal for the group wil be 50,000 signatures

United States Senator

Term Length: 6 years

Seats Available: 2 (each represents all of Illinios)

Age Requirement: 30 years

Residency Requirement: Illinois resident

Misc. Requirements: US citizen for 9 years, registered voter

Ballot Access: 25,000 valid signatures

U.S. Representative in Congress

Term Length: 2 years

Seats Available: 18 (Districts 1 through 18) Congressional Maps

Age Requirement: 25 years

Residency Requirement: Illinois resident

Misc. Requirements: US citizen for 7 years, registered voter

Ballot Access: Signatures from 5% of the number of people who voted in the last election in that district, 8,532 to 12,603 valid signatures

General Assembly - State Senator

Term Length: 4 years

Seats Available: 59 State Legislature Maps

Age Requirement: 21 years

Residency Requirement: Resident of district for 2 years

Misc. Requirements: US citizen, registered voter

Ballot Access: Signatures from 5% of the number of people who voted in the last election in that district 1,675 to 4,499 valid signatures

General Assembly - State Representative

Term Length: 2 years

Seats Available: 118 State Legislature Maps

Age Requirement: 21 years

Residency Requirement: Resident of district for 2 years

Misc. Requirements: US citizen, registered voter

Ballot Access: Signatures from 5% of the number of people who voted in the last election in that district 520 to 2,523 valid signatures

County Offices - County Board Members and Commissioners

Term Length: 4 years

Seats Available: Varies by County County Information

Age Requirement: 18 years

Residency Requirement: Resident of county for 30 days or 1 year

Misc. Requirements: US citizen, registered voter in the district

Ballot Access: Signatures from 5% of the number of people who voted in the last election in that district. Contact your County Clerk for the exact number.

Note on County Board/Commissioner seats: In single-member districts, a candidate may run alone. However, in multi-member or at-large districts where more than one candidate will be elected, you must run a full slate of candidates. The same is true of countywide positions such as Circuit Clerk or Coroner: a full slate of countywide offices must be run at once.
